For Matt Damon, fatherhood has become the role that defines every other chapter of his life. The Oscar winner, born in 1970, often speaks more about the quiet shock of watching his children grow up faster than he ever imagined than about box-office milestones.

In a 2024 interview with PEOPLE, Damon reflected on how quickly time seems to move once you are a parent, especially when children start inching toward adulthood. “I don’t think we swap a lot of fatherly advice,” Damon said of conversations with longtime friend Ben Affleck, who is also raising teenagers. “I mean, we do talk about it, but it’s more in the sense of just marveling at how quickly it’s passing.”

That realization has hit Damon hard in recent years: “It’s like suddenly your kid’s going to college, and it’s at a blistering pace,” capturing a feeling many parents quietly share. Damon and his wife, Luciana Barroso, married in 2005 and built a family that has largely stayed out of the spotlight despite his global fame.

Together, they share daughters Isabella, Gia, and Stella, and Damon is also a devoted stepfather to Alexia, Luciana’s eldest. Over the years, Damon has been intentional about keeping his home life grounded, often describing parenting as humbling and clarifying. Rather than offering advice, Damon seems content simply bearing witness to his daughters becoming themselves.

He has spoken about the strange mix of pride and disbelief that comes with seeing children form their own opinions, humor, and independence. That sense of awe was especially visible when Damon stepped into a very public moment with his family by his side, a reminder that the little girls he once carried are now young women walking confidently beside him.

That reality was on full display on Jan. 13, 2026, when Damon attended the New York City premiere of his new Netflix film, “The Rip.” Joined by his wife and all four of his daughters, the actor turned the red carpet into an unexpected family moment. Isabella, 19, Gia, 17, and Stella, 15, posed with their parents, while Alexia, 25, was photographed inside the event with the family.

In detail, each daughter brought her own style to the night. Isabella wore a fitted black dress with white straps; Gia chose a navy blue slip dress; and Stella opted for a black-and-white polka-dot look. Luciana stood out in a red strapless gown, smiling alongside her daughters. The moment felt less like a Hollywood spectacle and more like a proud family milestone.
